Ukraine’s resistance is a vital part of Europe’s defense, Czech MP

Ukraine’s resistance to Russian aggression is a crucial component of Europe’s defense. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have gained invaluable combat experience, and losing Ukraine as an independent military partner would significantly weaken European security. At the same time, a possible restriction on U.S. military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv would give Russia additional leverage in negotiations.
This was stated in an interview with the Guildhall news agency by František Talíř, a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
How do you assess current U.S. policy toward Ukraine, and what threats does it pose to European security?
If these reports are accurate, I find it extremely alarming that Washington may threaten to block weapons deliveries purchased for Ukraine with European funds simply because Kyiv is striking Russian oil refineries.
These strikes put pressure on Russia’s ability to finance its war, while Moscow continues to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and civilian population.
Threats to suspend the PURL mechanism and intelligence sharing would weaken Ukraine’s ability to defend itself and give Putin additional leverage at the negotiating table.
I believe the path to peace lies in increasing pressure on the aggressor, not in restricting the means of defense available to a country that has been attacked.
Can European countries stand up to Russian aggression without Ukraine as an independent military partner?
Europe has the economic and military resources to defend itself, but losing Ukraine as an independent partner would significantly weaken our security.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have gained invaluable experience in resisting Russian aggression, and their resistance is a crucial component of Europe’s defense.
We cannot afford to believe that concessions at Ukraine’s expense will guarantee lasting peace.
Europe’s security requires a sovereign Ukraine, stronger European defense capabilities, and a united NATO.
