Confidential analytical reports by German intelligence agencies and the Ministry of Defense indicate that the level of terrorist and sabotage threats to German armed forces facilities has officially been raised to “significant and escalating.” German intelligence warns that the Kremlin has shifted to a strategy of hybrid warfare aimed at attrition, seeking to disrupt the logistics chains supplying military aid to Ukraine and destabilize domestic security.

According to classified Bundeswehr reports, Russian intelligence agencies are actively recruiting agents through private Telegram channels to conduct reconnaissance near training grounds where Ukrainian service members are being trained, as well as around key logistics hubs, ports, and weapons depots.

Military leaders are particularly concerned by increasingly frequent attempts to fly reconnaissance drones over military bases and barracks, as well as attempts to launch cyberattacks against the German army’s secure communications networks. Confidential departmental directives note that Russian agents are rehearsing sabotage scenarios targeting water supply and power infrastructure, as well as fuel depots that support the Bundeswehr.

The German Ministry of Defense and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) have already taken emergency measures to strengthen physical security at restricted facilities, introducing round-the-clock patrols, electronic countermeasure shields against drones, and additional personnel checks. Experts stress that the activity of Russian sabotage networks in Germany has reached its highest level since the Cold War, prompting Berlin to review its entire national security architecture and accelerate the modernization of its counterintelligence units.

It should be recalled that German counterintelligence warned of a growing threat of Russian sabotage.
